A Florentine Alabaster Statue Of Giovane Pescatore (A Fisher Boy)
In white and green mottled alabaster, on a Verde Antinco marble pedestal.
This characterful portrait of a boy fishing is typical of the sentimental and lively genre sculpture of the Florentine School during the last quarter of the nineteenth century which captured images from Italian pastoral and domestic life. Similar compositions are recorded by Pietro Bazzanti, Cesare Lapini, Ferdinando Vichi and G. Pugi.
