Descripción

Un reloj de bronce dorado y esmalte champlevé.

This gilt-bronze and champlevé enamel clock has an arched case with outset bulbous columns to the angles, it is surmounted by a drum top with a pierced scroll and ball finial and applied with expressive cherub mounts. The front and sides of the clock are finely enriched with polychrome champlevé enamel. The clock has a gilt-bronze enamelled dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands and a twin barrelled, eight-day movement striking on a bell.

Champlevé enamelling, is similar to cloisonné in that the enamel is applied to discrete cells separated by metal. However, in champlevé, cells or troughs are cast into or cut away from the metal base, leaving a raised metal line between the cells which forms the outline of a design. The cells are then filled with molten or powdered glass and fired.
