Описание

A Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze And Jasperware Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat.

This fine bureau plat or writing table is fitted with a single drawer. The frieze to each side is centred by an allegorical Wedgwood Jasperware plaque representing the arts; ‘sculpture’ to the front and ‘literature’ to the rear. The bronze mounts are of very fine quality and the anthemions heading the legs are a particularly striking feature of this well proportioned desk.

А.М. Э. Фурнье

A.M.E Fournier was established by 1850 in Paris at 109 boulevard Beaumarchais, and later at boulevard des Capucines.

As well as exceptional carved furniture, Fournier was famed for his upholstered work, shown at many of the great exhibitions of the period, including the 1867 Exposition Universelle. His most famous creation was a wonderfully naturalistic giltwood rope twist stool, which was as highly sought after in his own period as it is today.
