Губерт-Йозеф Хойбс

Working in Paris in the second half of the 19th century Hubert-Joseph Heubès (1826 – c.1895), was established at 12 rue du Parc-Royal by 1854 and then at 3 rue de la Perle between 1860 and 1876.

Participating in many of the major international exhibitions of the period including the Exposition Universelle of 1867, he was known for the high quality of his work which was often informed by 18th century models, including those by Adam Weisweiler. His furniture was often of a grand scale and mounted with lacquer panels and porcelain plaques, successfully combining an 18th century aesthetic, with the ambition and opulence demanded by his own time.
