An Important Pair of Monumental Thirty-One Light Giltwood Torchères After the Model By Jacques Gondoin For Versailles This impressive pair of torchères stand at 114 inches (290 cm) high. Each torchère is finely carved with dancing putti figures and scrolling foliage and surmounted by wonderful cast gilt-bronze thirty-one light candelabra. The torchères are carved after the celebrated models commissioned by Louis XV for the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles and designed by Jacques Gondoin, Dessinateur du mobilier de la couronne. |
