A Large Victorian Silver and Cut-Glass Liqueur Set, Probably John James Keith.

Marks to stem/handle section, rubbed.

The base boldly cast and pierced with bacchanal masks between fruiting vines and foliate scrolls, the beaded frame and central shaft terminating with leaf-capped rams mask embellished loop handle, all raised on four beaded scrolling feet, mounted on a wooden base; fitted with four faceted cut-glass decanters and stoppers, and twelve matching liqueur glasses.

John James Keith was known for his ecclesiastical work, and was appointed as the silversmith of the the Ecclesiological Society, who carried out work from designs by William Butterfield – see Culme, J., The Directory of Gold and Silversmiths, Antique Collectors Club, 1987, Volume I, p. 269-270.
