A Rare Jewellery Box By Haardt Et Davos In The form Of a Louis XVI Style Gilt-Bronze Mounted Miniature Etagère Table.

This exquisite jewellery box is made in the form of a gilt-bronze mounted Louis XVI Style Etagere Table, in the manner of Adam Weisweiller, with an interlaced undertier, and veneered in Amaranth, Amboyna and Burr Wood.

The upper tier is inset with a painted miniature signed 'Dizot’ and titled to the reverse 'Une Visite'. The hinged table top opening to a shallow compartment upholstered in floral brocade.

Haardt Et Devos were a prominent Belgian jewellery firm established around 1869 in Brussels. The company reached their apogee with a rhinestone model of the 'Hotel de Ville de Bruxelles' for the 1910 Exposition Universelle.
Léon Devos worked independently under his own name from 1919.
