Franz Xaver Thallmaier

Franz Xaver Thallmaier (1890-1910) established in Munich in 1890 one of the most prominent and successful porcelain painting studios in Germany. He employed a number of talented porcelain painters specialising in portraits and genre scenes after artists such as Joseph Stieler, Wilhelm Kray, Defregger and Thumann. Rather than an impressed stamp his plaques noramlly bear a paper label.
